SSE Wildcats Girls’ Football Centres from The FA in partnership with Worthys Youth FC offer Winchester area girls the chance to start their football journey.
SSE Wildcats Girls’ Football Centres from The FA will provide Winchester area girls aged 5-11 with regular opportunities to play football. The initiative offers organised sessions in a fun and engaging environment created exclusively for girls.
More than 1,000 clubs were established throughout England in 2018. SSE Wildcats Girls’ Football sessions take place on a weekly basis, and provide a safe environment where girls can try football for the first time.
SSE and The FA hope the initiative will inspire participants to engage with football, meet new friends, develop fundamental skills, learn new things and create the foundation for a lifelong love of football.
Season one of the Worthys’ Wildcats has been running since April 2019 and finished in September 2019 (16 sessions).
Sessions ran at Eversley Park (Top Pitches), Loader Close, Kings Worthy, SO23 7NJ on Sundays, all ages and abilities (5-11) from 9:30 to 10:30am.
The first season has proved a huge success with an average of 50 girls attending each session across the age groups. The sessions were delivered by FA qualified coaches and supported by members of the Worthys Girls U13, U14 and U16 teams.
Each Wildcat gains attendance points to earn rewards such as Wildcats T-shirts and water bottles.
New Worthys Girls Teams - U7s to U11s
This has now led to the creation of new Worthys Girls football teams from U7s to U11s. To begin with we will just be training on a weekly basis on Sunday monrings but will look to enter tournaments and have friendly matches when the girls are ready. In future seasons we will look at entering a league.
Wildcats Season Two - Years R to Y3
However, the Wildcats will continue into Season two, starting in April 2020 and will run for 12 consecutive weeks at the same time and location as Season one for Year R, 1, 2 and 3 only. If you would like to sign please use this link to FA website
